About Allantoin
The healing properties of the comfrey plant (in which allantoin is sourced) had been known for hundreds of years, making it one of the best natural ingredients out there. It wasn’t until 1912 that scientists isolated allantoin as the specific healing substance of the plant.
This ingredient has excellent healing properties which make it beneficial in the treatment of psoriasis, diaper rash and sunburns, amongst other skin conditions. When applied to sores and wounds, it protects the area and speeds up the healing process by stimulating new cell growth. Allantoin has also been found to protect the skin from environmental factors such as windburn. With its many healing, soothing and calming properties and long list of uses – everything from diaper rash to acne – it plays a very important role in our gel.
