Tips to make our shampoos, conditioners, body wash and bar soaps last as long as possible
It’s our belief that natural and eco-friendly products should be accessible to everyone. So while our products might not be the cheapest on the shelf, they’re effective and lasting, bringing down the overall cost per use.
Here’s how to get the most out of our true natural bath and shower products
True Natural Shampoos
You may have noticed that our shampoos are quite thick and there’s a very good reason for this. They’re concentrated!
The concentrated formula means you need less product per wash, extending the total number of washes you can get from each bottle. In fact, our liquid shampoos offer about twice as many washes per ounce compared to our competitors.
Of course, this only translates into savings if you’re using the right amount of product.
So, how many pumps do you need per wash? That depends on your hair type and length, but a good rule of thumb is to start with less – you can always grab another pump, it’s harder to put back what you don’t need. For mid-length, not too thick hair, I’d recommend starting with 2 or 3 pumps. Massage the shampoo into your scalp (and feel free to do this under the shower, the water will add to the lather while cleansing). You only need enough shampoo to cleanse your scalp because the water will rinse the shampoo down the length of your hair. If you need more, add another pump. If this was too much, start with a pump less next time.
True Natural Conditioner
For our conditioner, it’s not about how much you use but how long you let it sit. As with our shampoos, a few pumps should do the trick. After rinsing out the shampoo, gently squeeze out your hair to get rid of excess water. This is because excess water can prevent the conditioner from penetrating the hair shaft. In other words, if you apply conditioner to soaking wet hair, it isn’t able to do its job.
Start by applying the conditioner from about mid-length and work down to the ends. Then you can run your hands through your scalp for extra nourishing benefits. This way you won’t be over-applying at the roots, and can avoid weighing down the volume of your hair.
Now, wait. The conditioner needs to sit for at least 2 minutes so it has time to do its job before being rinsed away. This will allow our blend of 19 essential oils, vitamins and conditioners to properly nourish and hydrate.
True Natural Body Wash
This nourishing body wash is gentle enough to double as a face wash! Plus it has a great natural lather when used with a loofah. The concentrated formula will give you up to 2 x the number of uses per bottle compared to other bath and shower products.
Solid Shampoo & Conditioner Bars
We all know the importance of choosing eco-friendly products, and now more than ever, they also need them to be economical. Each salon quality, solid shampoo bar is equivalent to two or more typical bottles of shampoo (or about 1 bottle of Nature’s Aid shampoo). And our solid conditioner bars last up to 150 washes each. Each one of these bars has a biodegradable formula and produces zero plastic waste.
Extend the life of these bars and our true natural handcrafted soaps (which can be used in the shower or by the sink for hand washing!) by keeping them in a raised soap dish so that they are not sitting in any excess water. Pro tip: keep the shampoo and conditioner bars on their small edge (like in the picture) instead of laying them flat, this will help further extend the number of washes you can get out of them.
