When it comes to developing personal care products we keep many things in mind. How effective they are, how gentle they are, and how they impact the environment are just a few examples.
We take great care formulating each and every one of our products, ensuring only ingredients with good ratings from the Environmental Working Group are included. It’s imperative that our products are not only good for your skin, hair and body, but for the planet as well.
So while the ingredients we use must be gentle for your skin, they also need to be good for the environment. Which is why we use bio safe ingredients in our formulas.
What does it mean to be biodegradable?
Biodegradable means that a product can break down without oxygen and turn into carbon dioxide, water and biomass within a reasonable amount of time. But what is considered a reasonable amount of time?
For a product to be considered biodegradable, at least 90% of it must be able to break down and be reabsorbed into the earth without harming the natural environment, within six months of use.
Why we make biodegradable personal care products
The number one reason we make biodegradable personal care products is that they’re better for the environment. The second is that the natural ingredients we select work really, really well and are gentle for your skin. You can learn more about the ingredients we use here.
Not only do biodegradable soaps and shampoos help reduce environmental impact when hikers, backpackers and campers need to bathe, but they make a difference when used at home as well.
We use bio safe ingredients so that you can use our products indoors or out without harming the planet. However, even when biodegradable, soaps, shampoos and cleansers should be used on dry land and not directly in natural water sources.
